"TONY'S TIPS" UPDATED Dated 18/09/13

In response to a request from Plymouth Woodcarvers, who asked to use our tips as handouts for their beginners, Tony has kindly updated all the text and it is presented in an easier to read format.

with on-site parking for over 100 cars and a separeate room for the speakers/demonstrators

9th April 2011 YANDLES visit, we took a mini-bus full of woodcarvers and stickmakers to Martock near Yeovil to visit the Spring open day. It was a perfect day with wall to wall sunshine, we all came home with pieces of timber and other bargains, a good time was had by all.

6TH SEPTEMBER 2010 CARVERS MEETING: Following our appearance at three local shows we seem to have achieved our goal of recruiting new members and this Monday we had no fewer than 7 new members, all beginners requiring nurturing and attention, let's hope they get the bug.
 
CHRISTMAS CARVING MEETING - 20TH December 2010 - mince pies etc. with Richard Healy well known local professional carver in wood and stone, talks about his career and demonstrates letter carving

COMMUNITY FAIR, September 4th 10-00am till 9.00pm, including, hog raost and barn dance

St Ives & St Leonards Village Hall Stickmakers and Carvers exhibiting and demonstrating at this new event, Mike Tuck to give a talk about stickmaking.

 
 
The new website was concieved during February 2010 and went live in March.
     

The club now has a set of Flexcut woodcarving chisels donated by Keith Davis after winning an Axminster Tools Voucher in one of their competitions. Keith's winning carving was a train emerging from a tunnel, see Ellingham show pictures.

We have a bigger storage cupboard available now and we are able to store more equipment, including our Ashley Iles sharpening machine donated to us by The Hants & Dorset Stickmakers
